The commute into Manhattan is fast – about 35-45 minutes by train or bus. Montclair has 6 train stations, with direct service to Hoboken and Manhattan. One could conceivably live a short distance to either train or bus or both, as well as one of the four shopping districts in town, enjoying the best that this walkable suburb has to offer.
Montclair is bordered by Glen Ridge, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Verona, Little Falls, Clifton, Orange and West Orange. The town uses two zip codes 07042 and 07043. The central and southern parts of the town are designated 07042. The northern part of Montclair, north of Watchung Avenue, is designated 07043 and is known as Upper Montclair.
